Located at 2233 W Howard St, Chicago, IL 60645, The Fish Keg operates as a seafood restaurant serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I feel bad for Rogers Park and Evanston if this is their Go-To for seafood! And The shrimp are smaller and more expensive than just about every other popular seafood spot in the Chicagoland. I ordered 1lb of Shrimp, 1lb of Fish Chips, and Half Pound of Hush Puppies for over $50 and they dont even give you 1 complimentary sauce with your food! The batter had barely any taste and was the same for the Fish and Shrimp. It also came out over cooked. I would never suggest this place to anyone.

Visited after many years of not going here, was in the old neighborhood decided to stop in. Nothing like it use to be 30, 40,50 years ago, Nice big pieces of fish, with chips. for a reasonable price. Now, small pieces of over breadded fish, mostly breadding. For prices they are charging now, you would think the sauces would come with it and fries with pieces of bread or rolls, like the old days. I am not sure why they are still in business, the people in the neighborhood, loyalty I guess. What a dissappointment, coming from way north suburban to go here. Was a total waste of Money. Never More, to quote, edgar AlleN Poe, The Raven. NEVER MORE.

Stopped by The Fish Keg today and had a great experience. The place has a classic, old-school charm that makes it feel like a local favorite. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. I tried the fish fry, and it was fresh, crispy, and cooked perfectly. The seafood selection looked impressive, with plenty of options available. Everything tasted homemade and high quality. The portions were generous, and the food was prepared fresh to order. If youβre looking for authentic fried fish, shrimp, chicken, or seafood, this is definitely a spot worth visiting. A hidden gem with great food, fair prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. Iβll be back again! Highly recommended!

This is one of those classic spots thatβs perfect for grabbing seafood to go π¦ Even though the prices are a bit on the higher side πΈ, the flavor definitely makes it worth it. I tried the shrimp and scallops, and the scallops really stood out-they were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender inside π Thereβs also a nice sense of nostalgia tied to this place for me β€οΈ My father used to come here often when he was a kid, so stopping by feels a bit special every time Iβm in the area. Itβs like a tradition Iβve picked up myself. Overall, itβs a great spot if youβre craving tasty seafood and a bit of that old-school charm πβ¨

Being a Catholic from Pittsburgh, I'm a sucker for a good fish fry Friday. I pass their sweet neon sign most days driving to work, so had to give them first nod for Lent! Decided on the fish chips and fries, both were great! Fish chips were hot, crunchy and flaky on the inside, pairing well with their house tartar, or just malt vinegar! Looking forward to trying the walleye or the shrimp next time. I can see how they made it 75 years; well done!
